For a change, this weekend I will mostly be entering an Uphill race.

Its quite simple - one long technical climb (Bamford Clough - 600m long with 120m height gain) and the person who gets highest without dabbing wins, in the event of more than one person making it to the top, the fastest time wins. Should be a lung bursting, leg burning hoot (I'm taking the FSer with a low pressure DH tyre on the back for grip).

Its great to see some different format events which is one of the main reasons I'm entering 'cos sure as hell I'm not going to win. Its part of the Bamford Mountain Bike Weekend in the very slim chance anyone else is up this way this weekend.

Don't they do that at the world cup and world championship?

World Champs for sure, World cup, sometimes.

Closer to home at this years National Champs at Moelfre you had the opportunity to take part in DH, XC, 4X and Trials* all on the same weekend.
With a growing number of venues that can host serious DH and XC races who knows maybe in the future we'll see more multi disciplin racing - I'm all in favour of it.

* Trials was cancelled due to lack of entries - I think they had 3.

Thanks for the good wishes everyone - you'll all be shocked to hear that I didn't win, didn't even make it onto the podium

It was good fun all the same, nobody made it to the top which was due mostly to the wet conditions, in the dry I reckon the top 3 guys would have made it.

The pic above doesn't give any idea of how steep the damn thing is - definitely a lot more fun to go down!
