Mike posted on the forum topic Maxxis crossmark & Advantage tyre size up in the group
Equipment Group: 1 year agoGreat stuff Thanks for the info guys. The 2.1 crossmark/advantage are bigger than my current michelin 2.1 tyres so I think I will go for those as I want something a little bigger. The small size difference front to back sounds OK as long as the carcus is the same. I have a tubeless setup [...]

Mike started the forum topic Maxxis crossmark & Advantage tyre size up in the group
Equipment Group: 1 year agoHi All. I wonder if there are any Maxxis users out there that could answer this. I’d like to pair up a crossmark on the rear and advantage on the front but need to know how the sizes differ. I would like both tyres to be roughly the same volume. I understand the advantage is [...]

Mike posted on the forum topic Anyone know what's happening with the Penhydd trail? in the group
Bargains and offers: 1 year agoGood stuff. Theres great potential for a new section at the end of Brashy track. Sad news about the fungus problem. I hope Penhydd re-opens this year. I’m bustin to ride it.

Mike posted on the forum topic Anyone know what's happening with the Penhydd trail? in the group
Bargains and offers: 1 year agoRoll on the summer & dusty trails. It will be great to ride Penhydd again. I hope they just improve the boggy and boring fire road sections. There’s that really wide long descent after brashy track before a boggy patch and then frog corner. Theres good forest to the side of that descent which would [...]

Mike posted on the forum topic cycling a dying sport in the group
Mid Wales Riders Group: 1 year, 1 month agoI always slack off a bit this time of year and then get back into the swing of things in Jan. Just seems to be a cycle I follow every year. The enthusiasm is really coming back now. I rode into work this morning and it felt fantastic. Starting to think a lot about cycling [...]

Mike posted on the forum topic Is it the same site? in the group
The Lounge (aka Banter): 1 year, 1 month agoHopefully the site will pick up next year when more people are thinking about MTB when warmer, dryer weather is with us. It’s incredible how such a busy site died overnight and i’m sure there are lessons to be learnt from this. The old site did have a certain charm didn’t it?

Mike posted on the forum topic Winter tyre choice for riding mainly in woodlands in the group
Equipment Group: 1 year, 3 months agoThanks for the suggestions. I’ll check out some reviews. I’ve been using the old type Michellin wildgrippers (now called XC mud but they are not outstanding in mud) in a tubeless which have been a good all round tyre and are great for trail centres. Now im mainly riding muddy stuff and winter is around [...]

Mike started the forum topic Winter tyre choice for riding mainly in woodlands in the group
Equipment Group: 1 year, 4 months agoHi Folks, I’m probably going to order some Panaracer trailrakers from reading lots of excellant reviews but I wondered what you guys use for a winter tyre? I mainly ride the wenault and castel coch woods which are steep with lots of mud, not always deep but very easy to loose traction. There are lots [...]

South Wales Riders Group: 1 year, 4 months agoBought a 2nd hand Sub5 as a bit of fun/project a while back and liked it so much I stopped riding and have sold my other bike. I was planning on spending 2.5K on a bike next year but I wont bother now. Just goes to show you don’t have to spend a lot to [...]

Mike posted on the forum topic Chased by another dog in the Wenault in the group
South Wales Riders Group: 1 year, 4 months agoThanks Mickey i’ll try one of those and let you know how I get on if it happens again which I’m sure it will. I’ve considered weapons or kicking the dogs but as the owner/owners are sometimes present and are moronic enough to let dangerous dogs off the lead in the first place chances are [...]

Mike started the forum topic Chased by another dog in the Wenault in the group
South Wales Riders Group: 1 year, 4 months agoI’ve lost count of how many times I have been chased by dogs not on leads in the Wenault. Once an owner shouted “Don’t move or he’ll have you” If owners know there dogs chase bikes or are dangerous why the hell don’t they put them on a lead. Last year I was bitten on [...]

The Lounge (aka Banter): 1 year, 5 months agoDifficult and probably not best for non mediacally qualified people to advise you on this one Herrvonsiemens. My personal unqualified view is that if you enjoy and are going to be doing a lot of cycling then why not do some complimentary training too. Have you tried any other forms of exercise m8? I have [...]

Mike posted on the forum topic Bikes stolen at Cwmcarn / Cwmdown / Twrch trail in the group
South Wales Riders Group: 1 year, 5 months agoIt is possible that the bike will be stripped and the parts sold on e-bay. Another thing that you could try Tom is doing a search for various items from your bike within a 20 mile area from a Newport or Cardiff postcode. Hard to identify parts from a new bike I know but if [...]
